Road trip essentials. Get ready for the summer.

Long weekend is approaching, which means many of the dog owners are packing up and getting ready to travel.

Having all the essential gear makes everything super easy and stress free.

Here is our list:

Kibbles/food, treats and water
Joint supplements (if applicable)
Collapsible dog bowl x 2
Dog bed – waterproof is best
Veggie snacks (carrot/ sweet pepper) – for energy refill along the hike

Waterproof car seat cover
Foldable dog steps (if applicable)
Crate and/or playpen – just in case, even if you’re not routinely using it
Poop bags
Reliable leash
Collar with a registration ID, contact info & Rabies tag
Dog life jacket for swimming
Waterproof dog coat for rains and mist
High visibility harness – select a colour that’s visible through the woods and foliage
Floatable balls for playing in lakes
Towels – for beach & lake play days
Hair Dryer – to dry the dog up easily
Find and save a number of a vet clinic and an emergency clinic local to where you’re traveling to

Medications:
Polysporin – for cuts and bruises (ask your vet for other options)
Anti-bacterial dog wipes
Paw balm
Fortiflora – probiotic for upset stomach (tell your vet you’re traveling this summer and ask what they recommend to have on hand for diarrhea and vomiting).
Pedialyte
Corn syrup/nutri-cal – for low blood sugar – if the dog hasn’t eaten, ran around and is now looking weaker/dizzy
Thermometer
Skunk odor remover

We love to travel with our dogs and being prepared for any contingencies makes the trip less worrisome.
